The Process
The Process
Goal:
Equip classroom teachers with quick tips they easily can bring up during instruction in any subject area in an effort to help integrate the essential concepts of media literacy into their own instruction, so it’s not taught in isolation from only the tech teacher(s).
Tools Used:
App Platform: Bolt
App Hosting: Vercel
AI Support: Gemini
Graphics: Canva
Step 1: (AI usage is plentiful for this step)
Generate a list of statements - facts teachers can share in 60 seconds or less
Sort the list by grade - some facts may fit multiple grades/grade bands
Categorize each statement: Media Literacy, Digital Literacy, AI Literacy…?
Step 2:
Connect the statements to curricular skills, ultimately ending up with an “if-then” format
If you are reading a picture book to your students, then add in this statement
If you are teaching a science lesson on states of matter, then add in this statement
Organize all statements and curricular concepts into a spreadsheet
Step 3: (AI usage is plentiful for vibe coding)
Vibe code a database to store these statements, connected to curriculum, that is searchable so teachers can quickly peruse their lesson plans and designate specific times to pull in a Media Minute
Adjust each statement so it begins with a lead that creates a natural bridge for dropping it into a lesson
Step 4: Currently working on this step
Design printable cards for each of the statements as a separate option for teachers who prefer tangibles vs digital
