I've been brainstorming ways to make digital literacy easier for classroom teachers to connect with for years. I am grateful to be in a role at my school where I crafted a spiraling media literacy curriculum for first through eighth grade that I deliver throughout the year. I am confident in what our students learn over the course of their eight years of practice. However, I see how the isolation of digital literacy instruction, while good, could be elevated if classroom teachers were more comfortable integrating media literacy into their daily lessons. From there, ideas for ways to make this happen percolated, statements brewed, and the magic started happening. The final push happened while participating in a two-day AI & Media Literacy workshop* in mid-July, where the mental work finally became functional! This app is ever-evolving, as more statements are submitted I hope the platform grows to support all educators.
